The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is pleased to announce that James B. “Buck” McCabe, from Chick-fil-A, Inc., will be speaking in Kitty Hawk on Thursday morning, January 26th, at the Hilton Garden Inn. “Breakfast with Buck: Business, Leadership, Life, and Faith” will begin at 8:00 am with breakfast. The cost for the event is $20 per person in advance, or $30 at the door, space permitting.
Mr. McCabe will speak about Chick-fil-A’s business philosophy and leadership principles, along with its involvement with FCA nationally. He will also share about his own faith journey and why he believes FCA should be an integral part of this community.
Mr. McCabe is senior vice president, finance and chief financial officer for Chick-fil-A, Inc., responsible for accounting, finance, treasury, taxation, employee benefits, risk management, information technology, corporate administration, legal, and Cathy family financial planning.
Mr. McCabe began his career with the company in 1978 as corporate accounting manager. Soon after, he was promoted to assistant controller, controller, vice president and then to vice president and chief financial officer in 1982. He has been a member of the executive officer committee since 1980. He was honored in 2008 by Atlanta Business Chronicle by being named CFO of the Year.
Prior to joining Chick-fil-A, Mr. McCabe spent four years as an auditor with international accounting firm, Peat Marwick, which is now KPMG.
Mr. McCabe holds a master’s degree in business administration and an undergraduate degree in accounting from The College of William & Mary. In 1991, Mr. McCabe graduated from the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. He is a Certified Public Accountant and served his country as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
He is a former Chairman of the Board on the Fellowship of Christian Athletes' National Board of Trustees and currently serves on their national advisory board. He is active in the Atlanta Metro Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Mr. McCabe serves on the board of trustees for The National Christian Foundation. He is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hall of Champions. He also serves on the Wheaton College Board of Visitors.
A native of Roanoke, Virginia, Mr. McCabe is married to the former Susan Metzger and has three children, Karen, Jim and Nancy.

A silent auction will also be held during the breakfast, featuring such items as a Josh Hamilton Texas Rangers World Series autographed jersey, a Joe Gibbs signed football, a football signed by Russell Wilson and the NC State Wolfpack, and an autographed Virginia Tech 2010 football poster, including signatures of Frank Beamer and Tyrod Taylor.
All proceeds from the auction and program will support the FCA in Northeast NC.
